STUCCO VS STONE

Stucco VS Stone explores the two polar opposite worlds of how architecture is treated. The preserved vs the disposable. For this piece I took photographs of the Convent di Cristo, which is a 12th century convent in Tomar, Portugal. My interest is in taking these architectural elements that are hundreds of years old and infusing them into a space where they are impermanent and will slowly destruct and fall apart. The pieces adorned the exterior of the Orange County Museum for four months and (although it was not stated) visitors were allowed to take pieces of the installation or change the piece in any way that they wanted.
